Amthor International Expands and Adds Jobs
Amthor International is building an 8,000 square foot addition to its plant in Gretna, Virginia that will allow the company to add a minimum of 50 new production jobs over the coming months, announced Brian Amthor, VP.
This major economic development announcement represents an investment of $500,000 and is the result of increasing worldwide demand for tanks mountings in the refined fuel, vacuum, propane and mining markets. The expansion will allow Amthor International to increase capacity in both its first and second shifts.
“This has been a true partnership with Pittsylvania County leadership who has provided us with an excellent business environment in which to operate and grow,” stated Brian Amthor. “We greatly appreciate the support we have received from state and local officials. The Amthor family is delighted to be able to provide jobs in a difficult economy and to continue to support the Gretna community.”
The new positions will consist of welders, mechanics and electricians.
Amthor International, a fourth generation family-owned company, is the nation’s largest and most diverse manufacturer of truck mounted tanks, which include uses for the refined fuel, propane, mining, vacuum and septic, portable restroom, water, well drilling, and construction industries. The company has grown from a 1928 blacksmith shop in Ellenville, N.Y., to its two locations today. At their Gretna headquarters, the company operates an 80,000 square foot plant and employs over eighty people (before the expansion). Amthor International has been named to the Inc. 5000 of the fastest growing privately held companies in the US for two consecutive years.
